Chiloskit Double-Sided Leather Strop

A stone alone won't get you a razor-sharp edge. After sharpening, there's always a tiny burr left on the blade, and that's exactly what a leather strop removes. The Chiloskit is a simple double-sided strop with a wooden handle, small enough to sit next to your stone on the table.

Full disclosure: the strop itself comes without polishing paste. That's fine, you can use it bare to knock off the burr, but for the full polishing effect you'll want to add a chromium oxide paste separately.

Good for: the last step after your whetstone, removing the burr and aligning the edge before the knife goes back in the kitchen drawer.

Pros:

• Compact paddle shape, no hanging strap needed, barely takes up space
• Two leather sides give you some flexibility in grip
• Cheap way into stropping

Cons:

• No paste included, you'll need that separately for the full effect
• Not in the same league as larger, padded strops for serious use
